no pain no gain

After slacking off for a few weeks from gym, I went back to my circuit training session for the first time in 4 weeks. I was looking forward to being fit again. There were only a few of us last night but that was still good. We started off sprinting, push ups, and then came the killing DNA tower! I could feel my legs burning as I climbed up and down the tower, followed by more cardio work with punches, upper cuts, kicks, lunges, dips, sit ups, more push ups, ouch!

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being easy and 10 being puffed, I was 11, ha ha! That would teach me a lesson for slacking off at the gym in the last few weeks. Never again!

bubbly fun

Tonight we decided to give JD a bubble bath. But daddy got a bit carried away while preparing JD's bath, and soon JD found himself having a doubly giggly n bubbly bath :)

And while going through some old photos, I remembered how JD used to have his bath in the laundry basin. That was until he was about 10 months old before we introduced the real bathtub to him. Gosh, time flies and 1 more month he will be blowing 2 candles on his cake!

an early spring clean

This is a strangely quiet night because everyone else is asleep except me, hee hee! No, I am not suffering from insomnia...but is because I am still feeling kinda high and pleased with myself **grin** after the spring clean this afternoon. I was on the mood to tidy things up today and headed off to IKEA this morning to pick up my EXPEDIT shelving! I wanted a shelf which I can arrange JD's toys nicely in his playroom but also to display it out so then he could choose what he wants to play with. After searching for a long time, I thought the IKEA shelf might do its job quite nicely. So, father n son got to work this afternoon and JD helped his dad by putting the screws in each of the little holes and hit it with his little toy hammer. He is a good helper most of the time :)

In the mean time, I kept busy by storing away all of JD's baby clothes in the space bags, tidying up his room, my room, cleaning the bathroom, vacumming, clearing away all clutters....until my bin outside is full, ha ha!

At the same time, I throw an apricot chicken dish into the oven for dinner and it was so delicious that between 3 of us we nearly finsihed it all. Then there was vanilla ice cream for dessert, yummy!

In a way, it wasn't like a real exciting weekend, but still fun coz we have managed to do few bits and pieces for the house and it's always good when we have all played a part in it :)

kinda blu....

Lately I have been feeling kinda stressed

... by a few things at home
.... by a number of uncompleted projects
..... by a number of people
...... by some critical decisions
....... by not able to see the end to a situation

and to be honest, I am feeling a bit tired.

So, I think enuf is enuf! I am tired of the cold that's hanging on, tired of feeling pressurised, tired of feeling trapped. I stayed back at work late so I could tie up the few loose ends to a report before heading out by myself! No bub, no hubby - just me, oh yes, just me , myself and I! I just needed a bit of time for myself.

I had a mocha, a toasted focaccia, read some trashy mags at a nearby cafe and basically chilled out for a few hours be heading home!

That's today but I know I will be feeling better, smilier and happier tomorrow.

ps - some new words from JD today - Oh dear, apple, orange, Amen! and I think I heard him said " I got yuck"... not sure what it means exactly but I think he meant going for a wee in the little boy's room.

scrambled eggs anyone?

JD not only likes his food, but loves to pretend play cooking and tasting his culinary creations! While sitting down for a Play-doh session with him tonight, he made me this "delicious but yet horrendous" looking scrambled eggs! Anyone keen to try, hee hee. Oh well, it's their creativity that counts.

shopping spree

Our Saturday continued with a visit to IKEA first up! Hubby stays home this time coz he needs to study for his final exam on Tue (and this better be the last time he is ever going to do anymore studies coz I have enuf of it for 7 years!) The good thing about going to IKEA early in the morning is you don't get the mad crowd and you can actually get a parking spot. IKEA is a great place for storage ideas, and I got more boxes, containers this time to put away JD's little cars, trains, toys neatly in a box. I got another throw for the sofa, bits n pieces for the bathroom, some photo frames and some wooden trains for JD (yes, just 4 more to add to his collection :)) ! And I also bought a new set of lights for the bedroom, a new quilt and a new pillow! I am happy!

It was still early when we finished with IKEA, so we drove back to South Perth and spent a bit of time running around in the park! Perth is a great city, not too crowded, not too busy, just a nice pace all the time...thus I think a great place to bring up the kids! Most kids like the wide open space and that includes JD! He loves running around in the park, rolling around on the lawn, watching kids playing footie and once in a while chasing the seagulls.

For a well balanced and relaxing lifestyle, I wouldn't swap this place for anywhere else....

And the best thing was knowing JD had a great time when he gave me a BIG smile on the way home!

early bird

Damn, I have got the cold again! My nose is stuff, I can't smell or taste anything! I don't even know what I am eating because I can't taste anything. Not happy!

This morning JD decided to get up at the most unreasonable, torturing and almost ungodly hour of 5am! What the!!! I was still deep asleep in my slumberland, not wanting to get up because I know it was only 0.3 deg c outside! But thank goodness, hubby thought he would do the right thing this time, hee hee! And what do you do with an active, energetic, and "ready to face the world" toddler at 5am! Ah....I heard the famous Wiggles "Toot toot chugga chugga big red car..." blasting away in the lounge room and that was the end of my sleep in! Ha ha, welcome to the house of a toddler.

Now, JD and I have this weekend rituals when I would bring him out for walk every Sat and Sun morning in his pram. We walk the same street each time, stop by at the newsagency to pick up the paper, then the bakery before we take another big loop home. Sometimes, rituals are good, but maybe not so good when it's freakin cold outside at just 0.3deg and is still dark. JD was all ready for a walk well before 6 this morning, and got himself all organised! He brought his jacket out, put his beanie on, brought his shoes to my room and told me "up mommy"...."go", uh huh! There was no way of talking him out of it, so instead hubby brought him out.

And there you have it, father and son, holding hands, each carrying a torch going out for an exceptionally fresh morning walk, brrrrrrrrrrrr!

coffee break

This is the school holiday at the moment, so Jayden's Gymbaroo lesson is also on 2 weeks break. Thinking about what we should do, I decided to take JD to King's Park for a play. It was only 9am when we got there, and was a chilly morning indeed. There was hardly anyone around, except the laughter of a few young kids being chased around by their grandparents and the sounds of kookaburra! JD was more fascinated with crows and birds than the swings and slides, and spent most of his time chasing the birds! I just spent time watching him, and marvelled at how much he has grown! His face is looking more mature these days (though still keeping his chubby cheek) and he is walking, running, jumping and kicking ball so steadily on his feet! He is a confident little boy, and never afraid to be around other kids in the playground. He plays alongside the big kids, watching them and trying to do the same! And when he knows it was something dangerous, he just step aside and watch! Ha, that's my boy, hee hee!

After an hour of play, I asked JD if he likes some morning tea! He let out a big "Yep, yum" and off we went to the nearest cafe! For a long time, JD has always been fascinated with my cup of coffee. So, 2day I ordered a kiddycinno and a cappucinno! For snacks, I ordered a Teddy Shortbread for him and a Melting Moment for myself! Settled! There we were, me enjoying my cup of coffee while catching up with news around the world, and JD sat quietly and happily beside him sipping away his cup of kiddycinno! (FYI, Kidducinno is a mini cup of milk with thick froth on the top!) That was good time together.

I look forward to more coffee time with JD :)

report card

Today is JD's last day of his second term in swimming school! In his certificate, it said "This is to certify that JD has achieved water confidence, kicking and bubbles". JD has come to enjoy his swimming classes in the last few months and is now showing lots of confidence in the water. He likes getting onto the kiddy water slide, take a big slide down into the water where daddy would be there to catch him. It is fun to watch him and his daddy in the swimming class every Sat morning, seeing how he kicks his feet in the water, holding his breath b4 he goes under the
water.

2nd stage of mamahood

Part1:
Oh man...I never imagined I would be doing this one day...But there I was, up early on a Friday morning for a dental appointment at 730am before rushing off to the BOCS outlet..for what u may asked?

I was queuing for the ticktes to Wiggles Hot Potato concert! Oh yes, they are coming to town and I have heard the tickets would be selling like hot potatoes. JD is wiggly mad with the Wiggles, he loves the Hot Potato song, the Big Red Car, Where's Jeff...and I have Wiggles song wiggling around in my head all day.

There were lots of people already waiting when I got there, some with kids in tow, some with the grandparents along. BOCS outlet finally opened at 9am but there were 20 other people in front of me, and I was watching....people were taking at least 5 minutes to decide where they want to sit...it was getting into me. (Remember: I haven't had my breakfast n coffee, just came from the dentist, still sore from the new filling and half of my face is still numb from the anaesthetic..) So, instead I got onto the phone ticketing and got my tickets in just 3 mins. Ahhh, stuff the queue, I am going to get myself a coffee now!

Part 2:
Here I was, happy now that I have got the Wiggles ticket and my coffee, I am now on my Friday Errands Mission...there are bills to claim, cheques to bank, calls to return, people to see, presents to buy....So, while rushing around with this yummy Caramellatte in my hand, I came across this old man sitting by himself in the cold, not looking too well but still brave himself trying to raise awareness for Huntington's disease. I felt bad, felt bad that I have a nice cup of hot drink in my hand, while he hasn't..felt bad that I feel nice n warm while he may be cold and unwell. I didn't like that feeling, so I dashed back to the nearest cafe and ordered another Friday cappucinno and muffin special....

Part 3:
I helped to babysit a friend's 6 weeks old baby. Man, I can't remember JD being that small when I first brought him home. The soft baby hair, tiny little fingers that grip onto you, the innocent gaze of a new born. I guess it's hard to remember anything during those days when all you get is a few hours of sleep each night : )

Part 4:
It's party time! I am off to a Majestic dinner tonight organised by work. I got my hair done, put on some make up and it's party time! Ha ha, it's been ages since I have been able to leave JD at home and go out partying! You can imagine, I was excited and almost jumping out of my skin with this freedom even if it was just for one night! I could dine, I could wine, I could dance all night.....and finally tip toed back into the house at around 2am....hee hee hee, I had a ball!
